ASENT takes the next step toward growth

Posted By ASENT President Martha Morrell, MD, Wednesday, December 6, 2017

Dear Friends:

For the past decade, American Society for Experimental NeuroTherapeutics (ASENT) has been managed by the dedicated team at Association Resources. This year, however, marks a transition for ASENT. As of November 17, 2017 we have moved away from Association Resources to become a stand alone nonprofit. We are grateful to Marty Rotblatt and Association Resources for their leadership, and we look forward to a bright future through a strong and engaging meeting with the support of an outstanding journal.

We are thankful to the former ASENT team at Association Resources including Jeff Melin, Cynthia Caron, Karan Murray, and George Ghitsa who not only grew the annual meeting and the membership but increased the presence in the industry at a critical time. A special note of appreciation must also go out to the Association Resources accounting team who will continue to process meeting registration and membership payments through the end of 2017.

As we look forward, many of you know the ASENT Annual Meeting is an opportunity to connect with representatives of academia, industry, advocacy, government and key investment leaders who share a commitment to neurotherapeutic solutions. The annual meeting will take place on March 7-10, 2018 at the Hilton Rockville in Rockville, MD. Registration for the ASENT 20th Annual Meeting is now open. I hope you will take a moment to review the advance program and register.

Of course the work of the organization continues and many of you have already met our new Executive Director, Jessica Keenan Smith. I know she is looking forward to working with each of you to take ASENT to the next level. Also joining the team is Sandy Pizzoferrato. Sandy has a long career in association management and will work with Jessica to ensure ASENT’s operations run as they should. We are also lucky to have the support of Terrie Blalock who, as many of you know, has been a dedicated volunteer for ASENT. Terrie will spend her time supporting ASENT through the process of securing valuable sponsorship dollars.

Thanks so much for all you do for ASENT. We look forward to growing this organization together.
