- Annual Meeting
Many of you are not just members, but are also dedicated volunteers of ASENT, and your efforts continue to make an enormous impact on the success of this organization. Of course, all organizations grow and change over time and ASENT is ready to take on one such change. I am pleased to introduce you to our new Executive Director, Jessica Keenan Smith.
Jessica has been involved in the neurology community both as a nonprofit leader and a patient advocate since 2009. She comes to ASENT having served as Director of Education and Membership for four years with the American Neurological Association, and as Founder of Living Well With Epilepsy. Prior to her time in neurology, she led a donor relations team for the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and created marketing materials for Continuum Health Partners. We look forward to making the most of her extensive skill set as we prepare for ASENT’s 20th Annual Meeting.
I also want to thank Jeff Melin for his continued assistance over the next few months. Jeff has been invaluable in his support as we prepare for our upcoming annual meeting. He will continue to provide institutional memory through the next few months. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I cannot thank Jeff enough for his work and dedication to ASENT.
If you have not attended a meeting recently, I encourage you to plan to attend. Our Pipeline Session is unique to ASENT, where you will hear presentations on the discovery and development of new CNS therapeutics from innovators in industry, academia and government—all on the same stage. Symposium topics include the impact of new technologies on neurotherapeutics, innovative designs in clinical trials, developing treatments for rare neurological diseases, non-small molecule therapies and strategies to spur investments in neurotherapeutics. The scientific sessions will address emerging therapies in a wide range of topics including Epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, ALS, Migraine, and more. We are also offering our second day-long course in Translational Research. Finally, we are looking forward to opening the call for abstracts for our poster presentations.
I encourage you to save the date for the upcoming ASENT 20th Annual Meeting from March 7 – 10, 2018, at the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel and Executive Meeting Center. Registration will open soon. I look forward to seeing you in Washington DC.
